Vibrant Colors in the Wild

Recently we were sitting for hours watching an Eagles nest but got little cooperation from the Eagles.  There was one Eaglet in the nest and one mature keeping an eye on us but after a couple hours it seemed apparent that we wouldn't be getting any good pictures this day.  Sitting along the beautiful stream was quite relaxing so the fact that the Eagles weren't in the mood for picture taking really didn't bother us.  Any time in the arms of nature are golden to us.  After enough time had passed without any real activity we began to discuss pulling out and heading back to the truck.  Moments later we caught a bit of color and movement to our left and watched carefully to see what caused this flash of brilliant color. Sure enough, two Baltimore Orioles were dancing from limb to limb on a nearby Maple tree.  As we watched through the 600mm and the binoculars it became more apparent why they were so attracted to this tree.   As everyone knows, the seedlings on a maple tree resemble  clusters of little helicopter like spinners.  Apparently the Baltimore Orioles are quite aware that these little helicopter clusters have loads of tiny green worms that must be quite tasty.  Suddenly the Eagles weren't quite so important and the Baltimore Orioles took center stage.  One of these photos show this vibrantly colored Oriole stretching for all he was worth and upside down while trying to reach an especially delicious looking worm.  By the way, he got it!
