You are really a good writer and have described the summer elk watching experience extremely well. It seems that each time of year has its' special charm. I used to be unable to wait for the elk and whitetail ruts because of the cooler temperatures and the excitement of the chasing about and fighting, but now I hate to see summer end except for the heat and humidity part. I think early morning or late evening is priceless at this time of year--especially when a desirable photographic subject is in the finder.
